I’m very happy to be working as photographer on the Arts & Culture Centre’s series this fall. I started with Matt Andersen and opener Brianna Gosse, two amazing performers in a concert I enjoyed very much. Here are a couple of photos from that session.
Next up was a dance group called Human Playground who were touring with their work, Auto Fiction. I went to two shows, and this represented the most challenging light I’ve ever photographed in. The results are a little grungy, but perhaps fitting for the style. For the technical among you, my D610 shot the entire second night at ISO 12,800. It’s the first time I’ve seen it struggle to focus. Shutter speeds were still not really fast enough for the style, but I had nowhere left to go, since my lenses were wide open at f/2.8. The D7100 shot at ISO 6400, with a wider angle lens, and fared pretty well really. Night one was in the loading bay at the Arts & Culture Centre, and night two had a wonderful backdrop of Signal Hill and downtown St. John’s.
