One of the down sides of going full frame is having to dig into more expensive, larger, heavier lenses. To this point, I’ve been shooting the wide end with my crop frame D7100, and a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8. This is a DX only lens, and shows significant vignetting at all focal lengths on my D610. I’ve now managed to get a full frame equivalent in the Tamron SP 24-70 f/2.8 DI VC USD. My first shows, I’ll be sure to take the Sigma with me, but hoping that the Tamron performs well enough in low light to make the Sigma unnecessary. This will then give me a two body, two lens set up for concerts at least, and a focal length range of 24mm to 300mm at f/2.8.
Here are some initial shots from the Tamron in a variety of settings.
